Mr. Arieh Herzog has served as the Director for the Israel Missile Defense Organization (IMDO), Israeli Ministry of Defense since 1999. In this capacity, he oversaw IMDO mission to develop, produce and deliver to the Israeli Air Force (IAF), Israeli Missile Defense Systems, including the Arrow Weapon System (AWS). He retired in January 2012.
During his term as the director of the IMDO, the Arrow Weapon System became operational in the IAF, significant improvements to the AWS were developed and many successful flight tests were conducted. Since 2005, MR. Herzog initiated the development of new Multi-Tier Architecture for the defense of Israel against the developing threats, including Arrow 3 exoatmospheric interceptor and the David's Sling Weapon System, aimed to protect Israel against Large Caliber Rockets and Cruise Missiles.
Mr. Herzog's career began in 1968 with RAFAEL where he gained expertise in aerodynamic design. In 1971 he joined the MBT division of IAI, and worked there for twenty-four years in several positions, including System Engineer, Program Manager, Director of the Missile Systems Section of MBT and finally as the General Manager of MBT (1989-1995). The main activities of the MBT Division include the development and the production of Satellite Systems, Tactical Missiles, Naval Weapon System and Air Defense Systems.
Between the years 1995-1998 Mr.Herzog served as Director of IAI Liaison office in Singapore, and following this mission as the Director of Corporate Business Development in IAI (1998-1999)
Mr. Herzog is a graduate of the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, and holds B.Sc degree and M.Sc degree both in Aeronautical Engineering.
